LET GO!

Bisade's laughter echoed through the room once again, as she gazed at the photograph that hung on the wall. It had been four days since her husband had left home, and she was beginning to feel like she was losing her mind. The sound of the shattering glass cup from a few days ago still echoed in her mind, and tears streamed down her face as she relived the moment.

As she cried, Bisade realized that the cup hadn't just slipped from her grasp; she had deliberately thrown it against the wall. The memory of her own actions shook her to the core, and she couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the weight of her emotions.

"So I actually walked into the kitchen, picked a glass, walked back to the sitting room and slammed it against the wall" Bisade's voice trembled as she spoke the words out loud, grappling with the reality of her own actions.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm the tumultuous emotions that were still raging within her. As she exhaled, she felt a sense of gratitude wash over her - gratitude for her husband's quick reflexes, which had saved him from harm, and gratitude for the divine intervention that had prevented her from doing something that she would have regretted for the rest of her life.

Bisade felt a sense of shame wash over her as she thought about the events that had transpired. She knew that she had overreacted, that her anger had gotten the best of her, and that she had almost destroyed the very thing that she held most dear - her marriage.

As she lay in bed, staring up at the ceiling, Bisade couldn't help but wonder why she had allowed her emotions to spiral so out of control. The words her husband uttered the day the incident happened replayed in her head, "babe, you're over reacting, I only said the food is quite hot, I didn't reject it". Yes, her husband's words had hurt her, but they had not been intended as a rejection of her cooking or of her love. And yet, in that moment, she had felt a rage that was almost uncontrollable.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, feeling the weight of her own failings pressing down upon her. She knew that she needed to take responsibility for her actions, to seek help and guidance in overcoming her anger issues, and to work tirelessly to repair the damage that had been done.

If only she had listened to the warning and nudging of the Holy spirit about her anger issues, what happened might have been evaded. She allowed the only sin that easily besets her eat her up and almost tear her marriage apart.

Truthfully, it wasn't the singular action of her slamming the glass cup against the wall that sent her husband running. It was the many other days of her hurling words at him, always waking up on the wrong side of the bed and verbally assaulting him that prompted his last minute decision of taking to his heels after she attempted to break his skull.

Right there at the foot of her bed, Bisade called on the Holy spirit to rid her of the spirit of anger and help her start over on a clean slate.

We all have that one thing that the Holy Spirit keeps warning us about. It could be lust, anger, prayerlessness, talkativeness, etc. Address it before it destroys you. Lay aside every weight and the sin that easily besets you. Today, as you read this, I want you to LET GO of that habit before it destroys you.

  5. You write so beautifully! It's the things that are almost second nature to us that we find most difficult to let go of. It is truly important and necessary to call on the Holy spirit to help us do away of these sins.
