LISTEN and ACT

 

     "Bisi wake up, pray" Bisi heard that same small still voice for the umpteenth time that midnight, how could she harken to the voice when her whole body was giving up? God knew she needed that rest, even the bible said the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, her flesh was weak, what she needed at that time was sleep not prayers. She stretched carefully, she could feel the pain of the cramps shooting through her muscles, that was it! She pulled out the painkillers from her wardrobe, tossed some capsules on her lap and downed it with water from the bottle on her lamp stand. In no time she felt a little better, she laid down once again, mumbled a few words of prayer and drifted off to sleep. 

     She woke up the next morning with a worse health condition, she couldn't move anything from her lower limb downwards. "Abba why? Why add paralysis to my already thick list of sicknesses and disease, why Abba?" Bisi cried in anguish/agony.

     She heard that still voice whisper yet again "I told you to wake up and pray, your adversary the devil was cooking up paralysis, if only you have prayed". Bisi was vexed in her spirit, why would the Holy spirit say that, couldn't he have fought for her, he knew she was already facing enough trouble, why did he let that happen. 

     "There are some battles you fight alone, there are some you show willingness to fight and I take it up from there, there are some I fight without asking you. You didn't show the willingness to fight yesternight, you ignored my warnings and took pain killers. If only you have prayed, Bisi angels were ready to fight for you, they only needed a command from you." Bisi heard his voice again, this time it came a little stern. 

     She acknowledged that she had messed up, she reached out to pick her phone from the lamp stand. Bisi dialed the only number she trusted, the woman of prayer that birthed her. "Pray for me mama, I messed up", she whispered with a croaky voice. She didn't need to give her mum details before she knew, her mum was up all night praying because she knew that the devil was out to kill her only daughter, the fervent prayer of Bisi's mum saved her from death. - "The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much"

     "Command the angel's to do their job and then go to bed, victory would be waiting at the edge of your bed when you wake up" Bisi's mum said confidently. Bisi didn't bother arguing with her mum's 'irrational' statement, she knew her mother to be a woman of authority. She struggled to lay on a comfortable side, commanded as her angels to set out and then she slept off. When she woke up, she was as healthy as a new born baby, she felt so refreshed. Her phone beeped, it was a text message from her mum, it read "welcome back sweetie". If she didn't know better, she would have thought her mum was a witch, without mincing words, she knew her mum and the Holy Spirit had a working relationship, she needed to build one too. 

     We all need a working relationship with the Holy Spirit, the bible says Jesus left us a comforter to guide us into all truth and teach us all things. The Holy Spirit is not just there for camouflage, he's not just in you to 'scabosh', he's there to guide you, to teach you what to do if only you listen. You might be your own version of Bisi, just like Chibuzor in that viral christian clip, wake up today. The Holy spirit wanted Chibuzor to wake up, to pray because the devil was working in the heart of his soon to be employer, if Chibuzor had not woken up after the slap from the Holy Spirit, he would have lost the Job. The Holy spirit is intentional about you, are you intentional about hearing and obeying him. He speaks everytime, it's either you don't hear or you don't want to listen. It's not too late to ask for sensitivity, ask that you be sensitive to his voice, that you do his bidding no matter what. 

     It is one thing to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, it's another thing to act on what the voice is saying. Listening without acting is a waste of time, start acting today.
