EVANGELISM FRIGHT (Welcome back blog post ❤️)

I know it's been more than a while,I agree, I plead guilty of the charges laid against me. I'm not going to argue of justify myself, I was wrong for neglecting you, I know I was busy with our podcast, but it's still not enough reason to leave you hanging. The good thing is we are back again ☺️, once again I am sorry for neglecting our blog. For our 'welcome back' blog post, we would be talking about something interesting, "Evangelism fright".

We have all gotten stage frights at least once in our lives right? I know we like to form hard guy/girl but it's the truth. There was that one time we stood before people and it seemed as though the ground will open up and swallow us, that one time that it felt like the stage on which we stood was about to collapse. The truth is, stage fright is only a thing of the mind, that's why once we shut out the voice in our head, that voice telling us that we are not good enough, that voice telling us to look at the multitude and forget our lines, we become better and stronger, when we shut out that voice, we stand tall and speak.

I would love to announce to you today that there is something called 'evangelism fright', like stage fright, it is also a thing of the mind.

What exactly is evangelism fright?

You know that moment when you make up your mind that you are going to preach in the bus but you can't open your mouth to start. The moment you start to get different thoughts in your head, "will they listen to me/ do they even understand English/ what will I say?". Or that moment the Holy Spirit is telling you to walk up to the person at your front and share the gospel, at that moment, while taking two steps forward, it seems as though fire is burning on your head, you are just so scared, you can't even move. Forget it, it is a thing of the mind, open your mind and speak. Beyond your willingness, God has seen your vulnerability, so if He truly sent you to proclaim His word, He will never leave you stranded. The word of God in Psalm 81:10b Says "open your mouth wide and I will fill it". Even when it seems like the words are hanging in your throat, open your mouth, He will fill it.

Let me tell you a short story. I was going somewhere with two of my friends, we had to take a few buses to our destination. We entered the first bus to Mowe and I got a nudge in my spirit that one of us should preach on the bus, as I was getting the nudge in my spirit, my friend (male) was also getting the same nudge and I didn't even know. It was not up until I told my female friend (she was sandwiched between the two of us on the middle row sit of the bus 😂) that I got to know that our male friend had the same nudge. When we came to the realization that either of us had to preach, myself and my male friend kept pushing it to ourselves, at the end of the 'push session' 😂, we decided that my male friend would preach (myself and my female friend will back him up in prayers). We (myself and my female friend) had already started praying for him, we noticed that he would open his mouth and shut it, he would try again and the same thing would happen so we started encouraging him, he had evangelism fright and we needed to overcome it. We prayed for God to assist him and as soon as he opened his mouth, God indeed filled it, he preached for God knows how long and the people gave him audience, people in the bus beside us even paid attention, it was as though God deliberately permitted the traffic that day.

When you get evangelism fright, pray to God, ask that He sends His spirit to give you boldness so that you unashamedly proclaim the gospel of Christ like the apostles of old. Can you boldly say "for I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ"?

The Holy Spirit is ready to help you get rid of evangelism fright today, open your mouth and ask him.
